Component of space craft that manages power distribution throughout the spacecraft.

The role and complexity of the Power Conditioning and Distribution Unit scales with the complexity of the spacecraft. It usually features:

• circuitry to process the power generated by the solar panels;
• circuitry to manage the battery state of charge;
• power conversion electronics to provide additional power rails;
• electronically-controlled switches to enable and disable specific outputs;
• a CPDU to low-level pulse commands.

All the outputs will be protected by LCLs.
