Retriggerable Latching Current Limiter (RLCL)

A Retriggerable Latching Current Limiter (RLCL), is a Latching Current Limiter (LCL) that automatically re-enables when the current overload is removed.

Unlike a standard LCL, a RLCL does not have an OFF signal. It is enabled at power-on (it lets current through), trips when excessive current passes through it (halting the flow of current), and resets when the current returns to normal levels (potentially after a delay).

RLCLs are typically used to power critical satellite systems, without which the satellite cannot operate (e.g. telemetry encoders and receivers). In case an over-current occurs, the equipment is protected, but it can resume its operation when it is safe to do so.

RLCLs may be equipped with a retrigger disable input, but this input may not be commanded by any local automatism on the spacecraft. It must only be set by a telecommands received from ground.
